I went to World Circle Dance Day at Meeniyan Hall last week. Our class, which I love, from Inverloch Hub Community Centre, was informed about this and invited.
What a feast of simple circle dances from all over the globe. Three of these were danced on this day by circle dance groups internationally.
I came as a stranger to Wonthaggi, and was overjoyed to find circle dance at the Hub Community Centre, Inverloch having been in a group 30 years ago in Melbourne.
The music we dance to is Celtic, Jewish, Bulgarian and Russian.
This group is so friendly, fun, relaxed and the dance steps unusually simple and affective.
It would not matter if you had never danced, we help each other to ‘get’ the steps pretty much right.
The main thing is to enjoy the dance and the beautiful music.
Why not come along?
It’s not more than the cost of a cuppa for the class.
Mary Ann Peters, Wonthaggi.
