FOOD and fibre industry specialist and chair of Agribusiness Gippsland Paul Ford gave the welcome address at a highly successful Agribusiness Conference recently, setting the scene for the ‘Growing Together’ conference theme.
Other presenters were as follows: Trend’s for Australia’s key food and fibre markets (Steve Spencer), Australia’s new Food Agility Cooperative Research Centre (Anne Astin), the latest and greatest from Telstra (Loretta Willaton), the Future of Bio-Refining in Gippsland (Steve Parkinson), Gippsland’s Hi Tech Precinct (Jeff Pulford), Sustainable Farming Practices and Drone Technology (Wayne Lording) and AGI Key Note Speaker, Ross Garnaut.
There was also an address about investment opportunities in Gippsland by Robert Poole which set up a presentation on projects going well across the region including Invest Gippsland ViPlus Dairy, One Harvest and Gippsland Natural Meats.
Jenny O’Sullivan did a presentation about Gippsland Food Adventures which led into an address by Janine Hayes from Destination Gippsland.
Agriculture Minister, Jaala Pulford, a regular to Gippsland offered some details about the future of food and fibre in Gippsland.
Cr Meg Edwards attended the conference representing the South Gippsland Shire.
She praised Agribusiness Gippsland for providing the impetus for the sector to grow in Gippsland.
“Agribusiness Gippsland is a linkage across our broad food and fibre sector from producer to consumer.
“The conference recently provided valuable information and connections. The Agribusiness conference at Lardner Park focused attention on growing together and the utilisation of digital technology and current practices to drive efficiencies.”
