INSPIRING Wonthaggi Secondary College student Siobhan Griffin helped raise much needed funds for Oxfam by walking almost 15km to school on Thursday morning.
Rising at 5.30am, Siobhan and her sister Sinead walked from their home in Inverloch to the McBride campus of Wonthaggi Secondary College to help support the Oxfam charity in raising funds for education in developing countries.
Siobhan first thought up the idea after attending a leadership program run by Game Changers Australia.
“The camp taught us how to become better leaders at our local sporting clubs and also how small gestures can have big impacts on people and groups.
“I’d always had the idea of raising money for Oxfam and I think the camp made me more passionate about actually doing something.”
The near 15 kilometre walk took Siobhan two hours and 40 minutes and so far she has raised $570.
Donations can still be made up to November 30 with Siobhan having set a goal of $1000.
