IN RECOGNITION of years of fundraising for charity, the Elders Korumburra/Leongatha team made the finals at the One Elders annual awards night held in Adelaide recently.
Elders Korumburra/Leongatha branch manager Rohan McRae travelled to Adelaide for the ceremony with Elders Korumburra sales support officer Sharon Turton.
Rohan said the team was up for the award, against just two other national finalists, in recognition of its Annual Charity Golf Day, which has been running since 2011 and has raised more than $70,000 for the McGrath Foundation, as well as local families impacted by cancer and disease.
“It’s been a great effort by all the team,” Rohan said, adding that it’s been a “personal journey” for all of them, with several staff members affected by cancer directly, or indirectly over the six years.
Rohan said it wouldn’t have been possible to raise the $70,000 without the community’s enthusiastic support for the event every year.
“We’re very lucky to have the players that come out every year for the event. We’ve had no trouble getting support.
“People donate generously every year and everyone who attends really enjoys it. We really appreciate the people that put time aside to support the event. Even our opposition agents support it, which says a lot,” he said.
The Charity Golf Day will return next year. Stay tuned for more details.
