THE Australia Day long weekend saw 12 South Coast athletes and their families travel to Ballarat to compete in the Victorian Country Championships. This event is traditionally a highlight of the season, and once again a great time was had by all who attended. Despite not being one of the largest clubs, South Coast was definitely one of the loudest and most supportive, with everyone cheering on their teammates, friends and family in true South Coast spirit.
Although extremely hot conditions made it very tough for the athletes, there were some really impressive performances, with the coasters bringing home 19 medals and 5 club records, as well as numerous personal bests over the weekend. Thanks must also go to all the club helpers who volunteered over the weekend to ensure that the event ran smoothly.
