WHAT a day it was today for the annual Mary MacKillop Catholic Regional College’s fundraising grand prix today!
The charity event marketed as ‘The MacKillop 500’, based on the Phillip Island V8 Supercars and organised as part of the school’s Walkathon fundraising by the Year 10 Money and Markets and Year 11 Law and Finance classes, was again a great success with the whole school involved.
Each homeroom is invited to enter by contributing a minimum $50 entry fee, covered in most cases by local sponsors. A large cardboard box is supplied for each homeroom to make a ‘car’ but the rest, including themes and design, is up to the students themselves.
The lunchtime event also features a food stalls venture, provided by the Year 11 Business Management class, selling donuts, nuggets, drinks, sausages and more as an introduction to running a business.
There were prizes for first, second, and best looking ‘car’, see details later.
The Year 7 F Ice Cream entry, including Ice Cream cone on top was one of the stylish entries but when it comes to running around the circuit, simplicity of design is often the way to go. Here are a few happy snaps to enjoy.
