Members of the Friends of Agnes Falls (FoAF) will be hosting an Open Day at the Agnes Falls Scenic Reserve, on Sunday, September 16, from 10.30am to 4pm, in conjunction with ‘Bushcare’s Big Day Out’.
Look out for the two large blue marquees set up in the picnic grounds, near the large shelter, and come along for a view of the falls (looking great after the recent rain) and enjoy some fresh air and relaxation in the picturesque bushland setting.
There will be a sausage sizzle and refreshments available for purchase, along with limited edition Agnes Falls souvenirs (including some new 2019 desk calendars), and a raffle to be drawn later that day.
The group is fundraising towards the purchase of an enclosed trailer, kindly offered for sale by the Yarram Yarram Landcare Network, and has about half the funds required in hand, thus far, so do come and support the group, if you can.
Many thanks to the Toora & Foster Community Bank, Toora Foodworks, and the West Gippsland Catchment Management Authority for their generous donations.
If you would like to join the Friends of Agnes Falls, new memberships can be taken at the Open Day.
Meetings are held four or five times per year, with occasional working bees on site in between.
The group would also be most appreciative of your vote for ‘All Ability Access at the Agnes Falls Scenic Reserve’ in the ‘Pick My Project’ initiative by the State Government, so that the steps into the picnic ground can be realigned – or replaced by a graduated pathway – some pathways regraded, and extra seating installed along the walkways.
Some visitors have wheelie walkers, walking sticks, wheelchairs, or pushers, and find access difficult.
The closing date for voting is the day after the Open Day.
Check out www.pickmyproject.vic.gov.au, or phone 1800 797 818 if you do not have an email address or mobile number.
Hope you can make it to the Agnes Falls Open Day on Sunday, September 16!
Kathy Whelan OAM, Secretary – Friends of Agnes Falls.
