PIBC impressive finish at the Woolworths Junior Titles

1 min read

PHILLIP Island Boardriders Club (PIBC) had a strong representation at round 2 of Surfing Victoria's Woolworths Junior State Titles at Gunnamatta, Mornington Peninsula.

Over two days Saturday, April 20 to Sunday, April 21 PIBC's Juniors and Cadets paddled out taking on strong sets and classic Gunna rips.

Moving into the back half of the day, the Under 14 girls continued to display their remarkable skills, fearlessly tackling the challenging Gunnamatta rip bowls.

Despite the wild nature of the ocean, the young surfers persisted, giving their all in the face of the relentless waves. Scarlett Rennie having stood out in the earlier rounds, wasted no time in asserting dominance once again. Adapting to navigate the shifting currents before she picked off some corner pockets.

PIBC was represented across nearly all six divisions, with some impressive final podium finishes across four divisions.

Finals results:

U14 girls - 2nd Scarlett Rennie
U14 boys - 2nd Angus Kennedy
U16 girls - 1st Lillian Bassed
U18 boys - 3rd Sam Patterson

The final stop of the Woolworths Victorian Junior Surfing Titles series will head to Phillip Island on May 4th and 5th with it being the competitors’ last opportunity to earn points to make the state team.
