IT HAS been positively raining holes-in-one up at the Korumburra Golf Club in recent months with several golfers achieving the feat over the winter. Cr Bob Newton, Rob Young and recently, Dave Austin, have all lived the golfers’ dream in the past couple of months and last Tuesday, Ray Ludenia joined in the fun when he aced the par 3 first hole with a perfect nine iron shot. “It bounced about six inches from the hole and rolled in, although we didn’t actually see it go in because we were back a bit. “It’s actually my second one. I got a hole-in-one on the 10th about nine or 10 years ago but it’s still a big thrill. “I imagine the afternoon golfers will be pleased with me anyway.” It’s a tradition that all players get a free pot of beer when someone scores a hole-in-one and there was much animated banter around the first tee last week as word got around that “one of the farmers”, an early morning group of golfers, had scored an ace. The good form continued for Ray Ludenia on Saturday when he combined with John Solly to win the day’s event, a two-man ambrose, in fine style.
