Members of the Wonthaggi Citizens Band continued their fundraising effports recently at the Woolamai Picnic Races where they supplied a variety of food and drinks for patrons.
THOSE who help themselves are often helped the most and that’s certainly the case with the members of Wonthaggi Citizens Band who have been delighted with the success of their ‘Buy a Brick’ program.
Needing a big injection of community and government grant funds, to go with their own reserves, to expand and improve the group’s band room in Billson Street, they launched a Buy a Brick program which has been the perfect vehicle for the community to weigh in.
“It’s generated about $27,000 to date, which is great but we still need a little more to complete the work,” Paul Jamieson said last week.
Offers of donations can be directed to any band members, including Chris Longstaff, solicitor, 63 McBride Avenue, Wonthaggi, phone 5672214.
The band will soon be in the bigger and better facility, more than half as big again as it just to be.
