STILL going strong after 27 years, Inverloch’s Labour Day Weekend Art Show has a new major sponsor and bigger prizes for winning entries. Art show committee president Margaret Atkins is thrilled to have Inverloch and District Bendigo Bank supporting the popular annual event for 2013. “We’re very pleased to have such terrific sponsors and we’re hoping for even more submissions to the show this year,” Margaret said. “We’re able to offer prize amounts larger than in previous years and we’re looking forward to a great show.” Funds raised at the event go towards the Food Box Program overseen by Bass Coast Regional Health’s Family Resource Centre. “There is a need now more than ever for this wonderful program to be supported,” Margaret added. Categories for this year’s show include Best Watercolour, Best Pastel, Best Oil or Acrylic and, of course, Best In Show. Judge for the 2013 show will be Koonwarra artist Bob Hickman and winners will be revealed at the event’s opening on the evening of Friday, March 8. The show, located at 14 Reilly Street (near Foodworks) will be open from 10am to 5pm on Saturday, March 9 through to Monday, March 11. “We also urge visitors to grab a raffle ticket because there’s a glorious Janice Orchard painting on offer as well as several other prizes,” Margaret said. The committee thanks additional sponsors First National Real Estate Southcoast and Foodworks Inverloch.
