THE Korumburra Primary School Heritage Building Centenary Celebrations will begin at 2pm this Saturday, March 16. Past and present students, teachers and community members are invited to attend the celebrations to mark 100 years of education in the school’s first brick building which still stands proudly on Mine Road. The celebrations will commence with the formal ceremony expected to take place at 2.20pm. This will include presentations from Victorian Minister for Education Martin Dixon and former teacher, author and historian Mrs Wilma Walls. A historical re-enactment and choir performance are also part of the program. From there, the doors to the buildings will be opened up with tours available for guests to learn firsthand about the past 100 years of education at the Korumburra Primary School. To mark the occasion there will be books and commemorative wall bricks on sale along with historical exhibits. At 4pm guests are invited to make their way down to the Pony Paddock where there will be picnic games, followed by a performance by former school captain and rising musical theatre star Britt Lewis. From 6.30pm the bush dance with music by local band ‘Beggs2Differ’ will take place before the celebrations come to a conclusion at 9pm.
