A hearty ‘here! here!’ to your editorial ‘Fracking nonsense’ (Sentinel-Times, July 23). It is heartening to have such a reasonable voice in this debate which is often drowned out by the bleatings of a State Government hooked on short-term mining royalties to prop up their budget bottom-lines.
Many of the farms in our region have been in the same family for generations – can the same be said for coal seam gas wells which we’re told last no more than 25 years in production? What this region needs is some sound policy to support our agricultural future, not the quick bucks offered by gas fields that will ultimately trash our land.
