The article ‘”Rushed” Rural Strategy deferred’, (Sentinel-Times, June 25, page 9) quotes me as saying that I was surprised that no submissions had been received from local water boards. I would like to clarify that this is not the case.
I would like to assure the local water boards that we did receive submissions and considered them in our discussions. At the council meeting from which the quote is taken, my intention was to refer to the Catchment Management Authority and those responsible for the Bunurong Marine National Park Management Plan through Parks Victoria. These two organisations did not provide a submission and I asked council that they be consulted in the next stage of the draft strategy.
