MORE than 80 present and past members enjoyed a special luncheon at the Meeniyan Bowling Club on Sunday afternoon to celebrate the club’s 50th anniversary.
The club rooms were fittingly decorated in gold marking the milestone and the day attracted a number of special guests.
Bowls Victoria President Rosemary Varty, Strezlecki Region President Joy Hargreaves and SGBA Peter Henwood all offered their congratulations to the club on its achievement.
The day included the presentation of badges to club veterans Barbara Dyke, Rod McConchie, Russ Thorson and Keith Pocklington in recognition of their time with the club.
Following speeches from both the Lady and Men’s presidents and dignitaries the club unveiled their centenary photo.

Following the official part of the day guests enjoyed the chance to mingle with fellow members and browse through the memorabilia display which included a book of photos and clippings from the past 50 years.
A booklet was also produced for the occasion capturing some of the club’s greatest milestones from the last five decades.
