AN ILLEGAL Paddock Bomb ignited outside of Wonthaggi just off the Bass Highway at around 1pm on Sunday.
Wonthaggi CFA crews were called and arrived to find the car fully involved which had also sparked a grass and scrub fire surrounding the car.
The fire was on public DEPI land and was therefore illegal, but there is no suspicious circumstances surrounding how the car ignited.
“Firefighters donned breathing apparatus on and quickly brought the car, and grass and scrub fire under control,” Wonthaggi CFA Lieutenant Jamie Moresco said.
“The brigade was on scene for 90minutes blacking out.
“On return the brigade was paged to an illegal burning off in a residential back yard.”
Wonthaggi Fire Brigade was assisted by Inverloch and Dalyston CFA, Parks Victoria and Wonthaggi Police at the car fire.
