MEENIYAN-Dumbalk United netballer Lauren Redpath is the May nomination for the 2014 Alberton Netball League Rising Star Award.
Lauren, 16, plays as a defender in the Under 17 and A Grade teams for MDU.
As well as being a key player for the Demons on the court, she is also an assistant coach for the 13 and Under team this year.
A long list of accolades at MDU for Lauren includes winning the best and fairest awards in all junior age groups and finishing runner-up in last year’s A Grade best and fairest.
Lauren also plays for the Gippsland Storm open team at Waverley on Tuesday nights.
In her time at the Storm she has won a best and fairest for the 15&U team in 2013, finished runner-up in 2012 and captained the 15&U team to a premiership last year.
Lauren has been selected in the Gippsland Netball Academy in both 2013 and 2014.
The academy is a pathway for young netballers to be selected into state teams.
She was selected last year as a bottom age player to try out for the 17&U state team.
The Leongatha Secondary College Year 10 student has represented the Alberton league on a number of occasions including last year’s premiership winning State League 17&U team.
In this competition she was named in the All-Stars team for the Eastern region.
