KONGWAK’S Zali Anderson has been selected in the School Sport Victoria 12 and Under State Netball Team.
The Kongwak Primary School student’s selection comes after 6000 girls from primary schools across the state were nominated by their schools to try out for the team.
After a long selection process the team was whittled down to 40 girls from metropolitan Victoria and 40 girls from country Victoria.
Zali impressed the selectors enough to make it the final team of 12 which will travel to the Gold Coast at the end of August to compete against the other states.
The 12 year-old plays for the Wonthaggi Power under 13 side and plays predominantly in goals.
Inverloch-Kongwak Primary School PE teacher, Jesse Boyd said the selection was well deserved.
“Zali’s timing and court awareness as well as her shooting technique were what got her selected,” he said.
She is also the only Country Victoria player to be selected this year.
“Normally there is an even split between Country and Metro but this year Zali was the only player from the country,” Mr Boyd said.
Zali’s attention now turns to upcoming training sessions and practice matches before flying to the Gold Coast later in the year.
