THE required 120 hours of learner driving experience is often difficult to obtain – for a variety of reasons.
The Bass Coast L2P learner driver mentor program offers young people the opportunity to gain driving experience with a trained mentor.
The VicRoads L2P learner driver mentor program assists learners under 21 years of age, who do not have access to a supervising driver or vehicle, to gain the driving experience required to apply for a probationary license.
Young people are matched with fully licensed volunteer mentors and have access to use a sponsored vehicle to gain supervised driving experience. L2P is free for eligible young people and is funded by the TAC and local sponsors.
Wonthaggi Secondary College has almost a dozen students participating in the program and now more students have the opportunity to participate with L2P announcing that they now have a car, sponsored by the Bass Coast Community Foundation, located at the Corinella & District Community Centre.
This initiative is managed by the Wonthaggi Neighbourhood Centre.
