I am delighted that Bass Coast Shire Council has extended an offer of six months free rent to Grantville nurse practitioner Deb Garvey allowing her to continue the valuable nursing service she has provided to residents of Grantville and the surrounding area for the past couple of years.
Ms Garvey has accepted the offer and will continue to practise at her current premises in the Grantville Transaction Centre.
The clinic provides a fantastic service to the people of Grantville, Corinella and other waterline communities.
Ms Garvey has tremendous community support for the wonderful work she does and has built a remarkable rapport with all of her patients.
The Nurse Practitioner program was originally funded as a two year pilot under the previous Labor Government.
A review of the program, which will look at the potential to provide permanent funding, is due in early 2015.
I am pleased to have been able to work with the local community to seek funding assistance for the clinic in the interim.
This is a fantastic outcome for the communities in the Waterline and Hinterland as they can now continue to benefit from Ms Garvey’s nursing skills.
Ms Garvey is thrilled with the outcome; in her words she has “the best job in the world in the best community”.
Flinders MP, Greg Hunt.
Great result for Grantville
