Newhaven College won the fifth Annual Gippsland Inter College Dart Challenge held at the Wonthaggi Workmen’s Club earlier this month. The team includes, captain Aaron Edwards, Jack Taylor, Joel Piera, Luke Anstey, Jonathan Bulbulican, Harley Giles and Jason Ng
SCHOOL teams from Korumburra, Leongatha Newhaven and Wonthaggi secondary colleges crowded in to the Wonthaggi Workmen’s Club on Tuesday, September 2 for the fifth Annual Gippsland Inter College Dart Challenge hosted by the Powlett Darts Group.
Due to excellent numbers of students competing the Challenge created two extra teams of four players made up of extra players from each of the colleges (Newhaven and Wonthaggi, and Korumburra and Leongatha).
Over the day the best high score of the girls was Chloe Tebbutt of Leongatha Secondary College with 88.
Chloe also had the high peg of the girls with 28.
In the boys Aaron Edwards of Newhaven College with 140 held on to the high score and also had a good high peg of 40.
Not to be out-done Barney Kent from Korumburra Secondary College also had a high peg of 40.
At the end of the day each team had played four singles and one team game against each other.
The final count gave a clear winner – Newhaven College with 72 points, winning $600.
Second place with 60 points and winning $400 was Wonthaggi Secondary College; third place with 56 points went to the mixed Newhaven and Wonthaggi team.
Leongatha Secondary College won two sets of darts and Korumburra one set of darts and a dart board for participating.
The Powlett Darts Group encouragement award was presented to Jason Ng of Newhaven College.
