Leongatha’s Under 14 celebrate after their win in the Central Gippsland Junior Football League grand final.
WHILE the Leongatha Senior Football club has had a miserable year, with no teams making it through to the finals, the juniors have been far more successful in 2014.
The future looks extremely bright for Leongatha football, with the Under 14s tasting premiership success over the weekend.
The mighty Parrots were too strong for Trafalgar in the Under 14s, despite a number of close encounters in 2014.
Their skills and speed through the midfield, and ability to work hard under pressure proved to be difference on the day.
A bag of goals from Josh Hastings, Tom Sheedy, Ben Perry and Jye Gourlay also assisted their cause, as a boisterous chorus of Leongatha fans cheered from the stands.
President of the Leongatha Junior Football Club, Darryl McGannon said he was extremely impressed with the efforts of all of the boys.
“It would be extremely hard to pick a best afield, as everyone chipped in,” Mr McGannon said.
Nonetheless, Cam Holden shone around the oval at Newborough, earning a best on the ground medal for his grand final heroics.
