On Saturday, October 18, 2014 the Wonthaggi Citizens’ Band will hold its annual variety concert in Wonthaggi.
Along with around 400 other citizens, I eagerly look forward to this wonderful concert each year.
This annual event is always a fantastic night of variety and entertainment with our much loved Wonthaggi Citizens’ Band showcasing their amazing talent.
For lovers of the vibrant and stirring music of brass bands, this is a must attend event.
How wonderful it is that this band, which has existed locally for 104 years currently, has playing members ranging from 14 years of age up to the father of the band, Don Edwards, who is 82 years old, or should I say young?
This year, the entertainment on the night will also include fantastic guest artists such as pianist Josh Hooke and vocalist Tom Green as well as the Newhaven College Boys Vocal Group who were such a big hit last year.
This group is accompanied by well-known local musical director Kirk Skinner.
The concert is held at the Wonthaggi Union Community Arts Centre and if some of your readers have not attended in the past, I would strongly encourage them to do so.
Personally, I consider this annual concert to be the best night of entertainment held in our community each year.
I have no doubt that like the 400 who regularly attend, new attendees will also come away enthralled.
For $20 admission, it is also great value for money.
I do hope that many will attend for the first time this year.
I am certain they will enjoy a wonderful night of entertainment.
People wishing to go the concert should contact band treasurer, Chris Longstaff on 5672 2144 (bh) or 5672 1259 (ah).
