WHAT better way to start your Sunday than with a fun run and walk for a cause?
The Cardinia-Casey branch of the Make-A-Wish Foundation held its third annual Field of Wishes Family Fun Run and Walk on Sunday at Casey Fields in Cranbourne.
Despite the strong winds, the weather was otherwise perfect for the 275 registered participants.
The day began on a high with guest speaker Beau Vernon sharing his inspirational story.
With Beau’s speech leaving the crowd in awe of his strength and positive attitude, the events were underway with the participants in the 8km run starting followed shortly after by the 4km run and 4km walk.
Place getters were awarded prizes sponsored by local business. Among the place getters was Beau’s wife Lucy who won the 8km Female event.
Last year the event raised more than $8000.
With the total still to be finalised for this year, the Cardinia-Casey branch hopes to raise a similar figure.
