auskickCampbell, Hayden and Paddy are excited about the first Auskick season at the Dalyston Football and Netball Club. The 10-week program will launch on Thursday, April 16 and will continue on Thursday nights from 4.30 to 5:30pm.

THE Dalyston Football and Netball Club will open its first Auskick centre this season.
Launching on Thursday, April 16 at the Dalyston Recreation Reserve, the program will run for 10 weeks on Thursday nights from 4.30 to 5.30pm.
Coordinator Brent Ion said Auskick is the next step in Dalyston’s progression as a club.
“We identified there’s a little bit of a gap in getting kids up to the Under 11s so we’re trying to address that gap for kids in this district,” he said.
“The town’s growing exponentially, as you can see from the housing developments, so we’ve got to accommodate for that.
“We have to look over the horizon a bit to see what it’s going to be like down the track, instead of reacting when it’s too late, to sure up our own existence and keep our family values strong.
“The club’s now 105 years old and we see it as another step in our progression to try to secure the next 100 years.”
The program will coincide with the Magpies’ major training night and the Net Set Go program will run at the same time for the convenience of families.
With smaller numbers the centre will have greater one-on-one training from helpers including Dalyston senior coach Paul Brosnan and students from Wonthaggi Secondary College’s VCAL Sport and Recreation program.
“We’re trying to make it a really low ratio in terms of helpers to kids so they get a lot of skill development out of it,” Brent said.
“We’re trying to make it a bit more personal and intensive, and it’s open to anyone.”
