IF YOU have driven on Phillip Island Road in the past week, you would have noticed the speed signs have now been installed.
Cape Woolamai resident and Bass MP Brian Paynter noticed when driving off the island each day that the metal school speed signs in Newhaven were being unlocked several times each day and the speed changed from 60 to 40km/hr.
The sign was outdated, time consuming and dangerous for the school crossing supervisor.
“I wrote and spoke to the Minister for Roads and Road Safety Luke Donellan requesting the signs to be changed and it has now happened.
“The new signs are clearly marked with times the 40km speed is in place. The signs are easy to see from each direction.”
