Leongatha’s Eleanor Patterson has become the first Australian in 24 years to reach the final of the Women’s High Jump at the World Athletics Championships.
Competing in Beijing, Patterson cleared 1.92m to advance to Saturday night’s final along with 12 others from a starting field of 30.
Patterson, at 19, is clearly the youngest remaining in the competition – in fact, she’s the youngest ever Australian athlete to reach a final at this level.
She’ll be in action from 8.30pm on Saturday.
