A CLEARING sale at 125 Millars Road, Pound Creek on Friday marked the end of an era for Alan and Tracey Ronalds.
The couple sold the property to move to the warmer pastures of Coffs Harbour, after using the property as a grazing farm for beef cattle during the past 10 years.
Leongatha South’s Max Behmer and his son Daniel have purchased the farm as a joint venture and are looking forward to moving to the property.
Mr Behmer said the pair plans to use the property as a multi-purpose farm.
“We’re planning on building a new dairy on the top part of the farm and run a beef operation on the lower part of the farm,” he said.
“It’s an exciting venture on a fantastic property – we just feel so fortunate to have found it.
“We looked for 10 months for the right farm for us and it was almost right under our nose because we’re only up at Leongatha South.
“We were looking for a property to go into a joint venture with Daniel and we had to realign our goalposts somewhat to make this property work.”
Daniel, a qualified plumber, has spent time with Max at his Leongatha South farm and they will work together on the 1036 acre property.
Plans are in the pipeline to build a 25-unit swing over shed to allow for dairy farming.
Max said he is very excited about joining his youngest son on the farm.
“This is pretty special to do this,” he said.
