A LOCAL man was lucky to walk away from an accident scene with no injuries when his four wheel-drive crashed into a light pole in Grantville on a wet morning last Thursday.
Wonthaggi Police Sergeant Sean Kennedy said circumstances surrounding the accident – which occurred at the Stanley Street and Bass Highway intersection – were still being investigated but drug use, alcohol and hoon driving had all been ruled out.
The incident caused the traffic lights at the intersection to go into standby mode (flashing amber) for several hours.
The roads remained open to traffic while the area was cleared and the traffic lights were fixed by mid-morning.
Sgt Kennedy confirmed the driver was uninjured and no ambulance attended the scene.
