A CROWD of 1400 punters enjoyed a pleasant day at the Stony Creek Racing Club’s Girls’ Day Out at the Stony Creek Racecourse on Tuesday.
For a Tuesday meeting the numbers were solid, with Stony Creek Racing Club CEO Sarah Wolf impressed by the turnout.
She said the standout of the day was the number of trainers and jockeys in attendance.
“Thirty seven jockeys came through and our fields were fabulous,” she said.
“For me, that just shows the support of a local country track when you get such great numbers to race meetings.
“Over 120 owners came for the day, which is great for a midweek meeting.
“It proves that when we have our race days during the holiday period, we attract larger numbers on track than in non-holiday periods.
“A lot of owners I spoke to decided to come down and make a weekend of it, staying at local accommodation.”
