IT’S said beach running is the hardest of all, however, when the run/walk is with good friends and for a good cause, it’s never impossible.
Exactly 480 runners (80 more than last year) joined in the 12th Waratah to Sandy Point beach fun run on the weekend in perfect conditions.
The beach run was supported by the Waratah Bay Surf Life Saving Club who provided first aid, a support vehicle, venue and a barbecue and the end of the run.
World champion athlete Andrew Jamieson and sponsors attended the event to present runners with their certificates.
The oldest runner to compete was Ernie Bugge (77) who finished the course in 75:22; while the youngest runner was four year-old Mitchell McGannon, who with all the excitement got a bit distracted along the beach and finished at 86:07.
