MADURA Weerasinghe has led Leongatha Town to a much-needed victory over Imperials with an imposing ton.
And he didn’t do much running throughout his innings, belting 25 fours (100 runs) in his knock of 125.
The Scorpions reached 5/230 off 40 overs, with Jake Burge chipping in with a solid 35.
Earlier, Udara Weerasinghe restricted the Imperials to 9/162 with a fine spell of bowling, grabbing 4/25 off eight overs.
Amila Ratnaike also bowled well with 3/25 off eight overs, as the Imperials crumbled.
Gary Sauvarin made 30 but had little support, until Damon Ginnane’s 25 not out added respectability to the score.
OMK’s Jason Wilson led the Diggers to a crushing win over Wonthaggi Club with 134 on a quick and dry Outtrim Recreation Reserve.
The Diggers got off to a flyer with Jesse Van Rooye departing for a quickfire 45 at 2/90 off 15 overs.
Wilson continued to tear the Club bowling attack apart, and combined with Adam Miller (59) for an 169-run stand to sink Club and post 6/267.
Club were brittle in reply, losing 6/39 with Peter Dell and Nathan Cant ripping through the top order to dismiss the visitors for a paltry 108 in the 29th over.
Dell finished with 3/12 off six overs and Cant grabbed 2/20 off eight overs.
James Sheerin (24) and Sam Huitema (30) showed some resistance for Club.
Korumburra has destroyed Phillip Island on the road to remain in the top four.
A sizzling spell of bowling from Ash Meade with 4/13 off 6.1 overs sent the Island packing for 90, in in the 35th over.
Luke Zanchetta was also handy with 2/17 off six overs.
The Cobras cruised to victory in reply, passing the total in the 20th over with the loss of just three wickets.
Shane Dole guided his side home with 43 not out including seven fours.
Inverloch has won a low scoring contest over Nerrena at Inverloch Turf.
Batting first, the Stingrays had contributors from Tom McQualter (26), Clay Tait (20), Kit Rotthier (20) and Will Rankin (20no) which saw them post 6/132 off 40 overs.
Josh Trease was the pick of the Red Cap bowlers with 2/28 off eight overs.
The Stingray bowlers defended valiantly throughout Nerrena’s run chase, eventually bowling the Red Caps out for 107 in the 35th over.
Skipper Kit Rotthier took 3/15 off 5.2 overs, Tim Lloyd grabbed 2/24 off eight overs and Tom McQualter took 2/21 off five overs.


MDU wins thriller at Bass

• A Grade, Division 2

MDU has chased down Kilcunda-Bass’ 165 with one over to spare, in a thrilling contest in A Grade, Division 2 at Bass.
A solid start by Matthew Olden (29) and Gary Webster (58) set the Demons on track, before a mid-order collapse sparked nerves.
Skipper Nick Eddy showed a cool head and guided his side across the line with 29 not out.
Earlier, Eddy snared 2/27 off eight overs as Kilcunda-Bass batted posted 8/165, led by skipper Andrew Donohue’s 38.
Mark Cantwell also bowled well with 2/19 off eight overs.
Wonthaggi Miners easily accounted for Glen Alvie at the Butch West Oval.
The Miners batted first and smashed their way to 4/225 off 40 overs, led by captain Jason O’Reilly’s 78 including eight fours and a six and Daniel Loos’ 43.
Glen Alvie struggled in reply, bundled out for 85 in the 34th over.
Joel Piasente was the pick of the bowers with 3/6 off eight overs, along with Jayden Loos (2/15) and John Nelson (2/26).
Peter Roberts top scored for Glen Alvie with 20 before retiring hurt.
A 104-run opening partnership between Colin Knox and Wilson Pollock set up a win for Poowong-Loch over Foster at the Foster Golf Club.
Pollock belted nine fours and two sixes in his 63 and Knox hit 34 runs.
Darby Walker and Alastair Straw grabbed two wickets each for Foster.
Mat Loader’s 4/28 off seven overs ensured Foster was bowled out for 181 in the 39th over.
Owen Straw top scored with 38 and Jason Law hit 31.
