ALEX Scott & Staff hosted a clearing sale for Frank and Keith Dutchman at 1650 Wonthaggi-Loch Road, Almurta on Friday.
After 40 years at the farm, father Frank and son Keith said the time is right to move on.
“Dad’s retiring and I’m moving on to something else – it’s time to try something different,” Keith said.
Frank said he was pleased to sell the 224 acre property, which has been sold in two lots of 118 acres and 106 acres.
“We bought it as retirement opportunity and we fell in love with the farm,” Frank said.
“Four years ago I moved into Wonthaggi and it’s a different way of life. We now breed budgies between the two of us which is a great thing.”
Among the items up for grabs for bargain hunters on Friday were a Massey Ferguson 575 tractor, a Massey Ferguson 178 tractor, a Nissan Patrol ute for spare parts and a Fiatagri 5670 round baler for spare parts.
The property, with house, has been purchased by a lawyer from Melbourne, and Keith will continue to live on the property with his wife before moving to a new house in Wonthaggi in six months.
