DETECTIVES were still at the scene analysing evidence yesterday (Tuesday) after a major drug bust in Leongatha over the long weekend.
Four people were arrested by Bass Coast Criminal Investigation Unit (CIU) detectives on Monday afternoon after police raided a premises in Eccles Way.
Police allege the four were growing “a large cannabis crop” at the address.
While the exact number of plants found is yet to be confirmed, the discovery resulted in immediate arrests.
The alleged offenders – a 50 year-old Leongatha man, a 51 year-old man from New South Wales, a 45 year-old man from Vietnam and a 53 year-old woman from Vietnam – were interviewed and charged with cultivating a commercial quantity of the drug.
All four were still in custody yesterday and were due to face Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court late in the day.
Police say the arrests were part of “an ongoing investigation”.
