Edney’s Leongatha dealer principal Darryl McGannon and office manager Sharyn Newton collect the Dealer of Excellence Award from Nissan managing director and CEO Richard Emery.

FOR the second year in a row Edney’s Leongatha was awarded a Nissan Dealer Excellence Award. The award puts Edney’s in the top 10 of national dealerships in rural Australia.
It is one of only 40 presented around Australia and is contested by over 200 dealers.
Dealer principal Darryl McGannon and Sharyn Newton collected the award from Nissan CEO Richard Emery at the Nissan Annual Dealer Conference on May 25. The prestigious award recognises exceptional results across key business areas including customer experience, sales performance, after sales, finance and servicing.
“This is recognition of the work our team at Edney’s provides for our customers,” Darryl said.
Customer feedback forms a significant part of the award’s scoring system.
Darryl said some of that feedback reported “very happy experiences in buying a car, friendly service, and particularly in the service department, getting cars fixed right the first time”.
Darryl said he was proud to represent the business at the awards, thanking Edney’s staff for another exceptional year.
He said it was an honour for the team to be recognised as one of the country’s best dealerships.
“We continue to focus on providing the best possible service and value to our local community, as we know this is what our customers want – convenience, value, expert advice, after sales support and excellent service.
“This award shows we do that exceptionally well.
“It’s been a great effort from everyone in all of our departments.”
Darryl said the team will now aim for three in a row.
Part of the award is for meeting sales targets and market share in regional areas, however Darryl said it’s easier to meet those targets when the product is so good.
“Nissan sales are consistent in South Gippsland, particularly with the new Nissan Navara that came out last year, and our top sellers the X-Trail and Qashqai.
“But the automotive marketplace is highly competitive, and so it takes more than just strong products to be successful,” he said.
“It requires great customer service, knowledge and after sales support.
“Edney’s delivers this consistently and to a high standard; it’s what our local customers want and we want to look after our locals.”
