HOONS have been leaving wild black marks in and around Korumburra in the past month, and it seems any time is a good time for a burnout.
Residents have reported they’ve been woken up at 2am by “d…heads doing doughnuts” outside their house, while others say brazen hoons have been cranking up around tea time almost nightly.
Black marks are all over the South Gippsland Highway between Loch and Leongatha.
Korumburra Police are aware of the reports and encourage residents to call triple 000 straight away.
If possible, report descriptions of the vehicle and the driver and take registration details.
Meanwhile, Wonthaggi Police have had success charging alleged hoons in the past fortnight thanks to the community providing information on the Bass Coast Police Service Area’s Eyewatch Facebook page and Crimestoppers.
“Local police have been successful in identifying and targeting individuals who continually put the safety of others at risk,” police said in a Facebook post.
Search warrants have been executed and over 100 charges have been laid and 14 penalty notices have been issued to offenders engaging in High Risk Driving – mainly speeding, careless and drink driving.
Drug driving offenders have also been caught with a 41 year old male recently targeted
in Foster.
The male driver returned a positive oral fluid test to the drug Ice and a search of the man’s vehicle found 5g of the drug.
