WONTHAGGI Police held a successful crime prevention operation at Wonthaggi Bunnings on Sunday, engraving bicycles and affixing anti-theft number plate screws to cars and motorcycles.
The operation saw about 50 cars installed with non-removable screws, so thieves are unable to steal number plates and use them unlawfully.
Police officers also engraved bicycles with serial numbers; if stolen or found and handed into stations, police can track down the owners to return their property.
Non-removable screws for number plates are available for a couple of dollars from Bunnings and could prevent the theft of your number plates.
Police are now planning to run similar crime prevention operations in other parts of the Bass Coast/South Gippsland area
