THE South Gippsland Orchid Show celebrated another highly successful year with the 27th annual show held at the Wonthaggi Town Hall on Friday and Saturday.
South Gippsland Orchid Society members were thrilled with the response to this year’s event, with an impressive exhibition of over 200 entries Committee member Peter Fell said the season was great for growing orchids for this year’s show.
“It’s something to do with the season because we’ve had the best turnout of flowers this year,” he said.
“One season definitely helps the next season.”
After a couple of years off, Bev Rowe decided to enter the show again this year and was pleased with her entries.
“My orchid house has been shut up for two years and I put an orchid in for the daffodil show, so then I decided to enter the orchid show again,” she said.
“A lot of people say orchids are not flowering but it’s been a great year.”
