SOUTH Gippsland Offroad, the region’s four-wheel-drive service and accessories leader, has significantly increased its presence in Wonthaggi to meet the growing demand of Bass Coast customers.
The business, well established in South Gippsland at its Leongatha industrial estate location, has gone from strength to strength since the Wonthaggi showroom and service centre opened in McKenzie Street.
SG Offroad founder Glenn Markley said the latest investment, which more than doubles the workspace in Wonthaggi, is designed to cater for the growing clientele that’s coming from as far as Phillip Island and Lang Lang through to Venus Bay.
“We simply didn’t have enough space to keep up with the demand,” he said.
“We value our customers here and we want to support the Bass Coast community. They’ve helped us grow the business so we’ve made the decision to expand.”
Fortunately, this hasn’t required a move to new premises.
SG Offroad in Wonthaggi will still enjoy its prominent 136 McKenzie Street location. Now, though, it has access to a large factory immediately behind the showroom.
The team had been working in a cosy shed with just enough space for two hoists. The new factory has space for four hoists and all the latest servicing equipment.
“The level of service that we try to provide, we just couldn’t do it from the shed,” Glenn said.
“Our aim is to provide the best service for Bass Coast and South Gippsland, so people don’t have to travel to Pakenham or the Latrobe Valley.”
The team of highly skilled mechanics has also expanded, with another 4×4 expert starting yesterday (Monday).
Glenn said the success of the Wonthaggi site is due largely to the work of workshop and service manager Clint Bordonaro and his team.
“He’s been fantastic. The customers love him and he’s built some great relationships.”
SG Offroad has also built strong relationships with the big brands in 4×4 accessories, and there’s none bigger than ARB.
ARB’s Victorian/Tasmanian stockist representative Matt McConaghy heaped praise on Glenn and the team for their commitment to grow the business.
“SG Offroad has had a long-standing business partnership with us here at ARB, and their dedication to quality and customer service has seen them go from strength to strength.
“This will be an exciting step forward in their growth that will see them cement their existing reputation as the leading suppliers of 4×4 accessories in the South Gippsland area,” Matt said.
Glenn said SG Offroad’s reputation for supplying and installing 4×4 accessories was such that often new customers didn’t realise the team’s servicing and mechanical repair work is also of the highest order.
And this includes all makes and models, whether you have a Ford F250 or a Hyundai i30.
As an added bonus, SG Offroad also offers a courtesy car for customers to use while their own vehicle is being serviced. This is particularly handy for those who live away from the two service centres.
