STUDENTS from the Bass Coast Specialist School were last night involved in a collision when the van they were travelling in was hit by a tram on Collins Street.
The mini van carrying four teenagers was hit by a tram as the bus attempted to turn onto King Street, before being pushed 100 metres up Collins Street and hitting a parked car.
The van finally stopped after it crashed into a concrete pillar.
A carer of the teenagers, who was driving the van, was temporarily trapped in the vehicle after the crash, and was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Two of the teenagers, also with non-life threatening injuries, were also taken to hospital.
The group of four students with their four carers were visiting the city on a school camp.
