LEONGATHA cowgirl Elley Hulls will compete at the Australian Professional Rodeo Association All Around Cowgirl national finals at the Warwick Showgrounds this weekend.
The dairy farmer was the number one qualifier for the Breakaway Roping category after about 24 qualifying events and is a good chance to come away with the win.
The 27 year-old said she is excited to venture to Queensland and hopefully enjoy some sunshine. “I love horses and I love competing. I’m a pretty competitive person,” she said.
“Ever since I was little and went to the Lang Lang rodeo I just wanted to be a part of it.
“I went to the national titles last year and I was runner-up so I’m hoping to go one better.”
Elley has been competing for about 10 years and practices almost every day on the farm at Leongatha.
Although the competitions are a hobby, she joked that’s she’s probably earning more from competing than milking cows at the moment.
The National Finals rounds in Warwick will be held on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights of the Warwick Rodeo and the Sunday afternoon.
