You may recall our attempt to debase last year’s Christmas with our version of ‘Jingle Bells’ (Jingle Library), which the Sentinel-Times published in its Letters page.
But, after some effort, I like to think that we have hit a new level with this year’s festive offering (see below), and we would like to challenge all of your readers and your professional wordsmiths to come up with something better.
Offerings can be emailed to us at or hand delivered to the Wonthaggi Library, and they will be given pride of place on the special Christmas Poems area on our Poetry Wall.
Here goes!

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
Joined his local Li-bra-ry
And borrowed some
books and movies
Cos it’s a Library and they’re free

All of the other reindeer
Wanted their own library card(s)
So they all followed
Rudolph down there
And joined up as it’s not that hard

Then one foggy Christmas
Santa came to say
Rudolph I want to join up too
And borrow books and
movies just like you

Then how the reindeer loved him
As they shouted out with glee
Let’s borrow books and movies
At our local Li-bra-ry!
