Several homes in Leongatha have been impacted by flash flooding at 3pm today.

Three properties in Turner Street were affected, one with flood water entering a back patio.

At another house across the road the owner called the Leongatha SES for sandbags when water was 2cm from her front door. Fortunately they weren’t needed.

Locals say the drain in McIndoe Park is to blame especially when a culvert in Turner Street is blocked, threatening homes in Turner Street and nearby Milicent Street which was spared this time. They have blamed lack of maintenance by the shire. (Response sought).

There was also flooding in Bruce Street causing damage to carpet in one home.

More rain cells are crossing the area.
