PHILLIP Island surfer, Sage Goldsbury, has taken out the under 14 girls Australian Junior Surfing Title with a consistent performance at Flynn’s Reef.
Phillip Island proved to be a fantastic choice for the titles, providing pumping four to six foot surf and blue skies for the titles on Saturday.
Goldsbury was one of three Victorians to be crowned Australian champion.
She scored a 10 in the first round, a 14.9 in the semi-final and 17.05 in the final to defeat NSW’s Cedar Leigh-Jones on 15.6.
Phillip Island surfers featured prominently throughout the weekend.
Codie Jeffery score a 15.5 to win his heat in round one of the under 14 boys, before scoring a 14.75 in his heat of the qualifying final and narrowly missing out on progressing to the semi-final.
Lannia Fostin and Daisy Corbett both lost their heats in round one of the under 16 girls, before Lannia requalified in the next heat to make the qualifying final.
She progressed to the semi-final but went down.
Chad Garrett didn’t progress past round one in the Under 16 boys, while in the under 18 girls, Sophie Fletcher made the qualifying final and Shayla Paterson didn’t progress past the first round.
Josh Bracher didn’t progress past round one in the under 18 boys.
