RESIDENTS and visitors to Inverloch have become a little bemused that the latest extension of the Surf Parade pathway ends so abruptly after it crosses the new shared bridge at Ayr Creek.
The fact that pedestrians are directed to cross the road, at the beginning of a tight corner on Surf Parade is also of concern.
Despite this, there’s no indication from the Bass Coast Shire Council that the path will at least be extended to the next car park anytime soon.
According to Felicity Sist, the shire’s general manager Infrastructure, the present scope of the works has been completed.
She said the work was undertaken with the $138,000 carried over from the 2015/16 Budget.
“This completes the project for 2016/17. Concepts have been completed for the path to extend to Bunurong Road and further progress will be dependent on future budget processes,” Ms Sist said.
The council said there had been no feedback on the design of the bridge or that the artistic motif on the bridge blocked the view of the beach from the road for passing motorists.
