GRADE 4 students from Korumburra Primary School will be well prepared for their Bike Hike and, more importantly, the rest of their lives after some important road safety tips were passed on by local police last week.
Senior Constable Luke Sheahan and Senior Constable Rohan Michael visited the school on Thursday as part of its Bike Ed program.
Their visit included leading small groups of children on a ride around the town, using all the required hand signals for cyclists.
“We’re basically reinforcing the things that they’re learning and then taking them out on the road,” Snr Const Michael said.
“It might give them more confidence riding with us and it’s positive interaction with the kids.”
The two week intensive program is being held in the lead up to the Bike Hike which is coming up on the Great Southern Rail Trail when students will ride from Koonwarra to Leongatha and back.
