FOLLOWING the success of the first Bass Coast Boomerang Bags sewathon last November, another is being held, this time at the Wonthaggi Library on January 14.
The local boomerang bags group has been sewing bags for about five months and has distributed bags to a number of shops in Inverloch and Wonthaggi.
Shopkeepers and customers have given a very positive response to the bags.
The aim is to reduce the use of plastic bags and the amount of plastic pollution.
Belinda, one of the managers at Green Heart Organics in Inverloch is enthusiastic.
“They’re fantastic. Lots of people are using them and returning them. We have lowered our plastic bag use noticeably.”
The sewathon at Wonthaggi Library runs from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, January 14. Anyone is welcome to come along and help cut out, iron or sew.

A Boomerang Bags group will be set up soon on Phillip Island, so stay tuned for more details.
