THE Leongatha Golf Club has welcomed new trainee PGA professional Tyler Marotti to the club.
Hailing from Korumburra, Tyler started his three-year PGA traineeship in recent weeks and joins PGA professionals, Josh Hall and John Payne at the club.
He played junior golf at Korumburra and pennant at Rosanna Golf Club in Melbourne.
Josh said the young golfer ticked a lot of boxes in the application process.
“He’s got a strong playing record, that’s probably first and foremost in terms of getting through the apprenticeship, it’s probably the hardest part of it,” he said.
“We wanted to make sure we employed someone who can pass that aspect and he’s a terrific young guy. He’s got a really nice, positive personality which is what we were looking for and I think he’ll bring a lot to the club.”
To successfully complete the traineeship, Tyler must complete a Diploma of Sport coaching, have satisfactory work performance and sufficient playing results.
Over the course of the year, trainees must play 30 rounds of golf and have a scoring average of less than 4.75 over par.
He will also play in trainee events across
the state.
