• A Grade, Division 1
A STUNNING hat-trick by Korumburra’s Luke Zanchetta has set up a dominant win over Leongatha Town in A Grade Division One at Scorpion Park.
Zanchetta was in the action early when he trapped opener Damian Burge lbw with the score at 1/0, before Madura Weerasinghe’s 31 got the Scorpions back on track.
Weerasinghe was caught and bowled by skipper Michael Giles, which put the pressure back on the home side and sparked an almighty collapse.
Matt Smith was the first victim in Zanchetta’s triple treat when he was struck lbw, before Zanchetta bowled Ash Hickey and had Jordan Bolge caught to complete the hat-trick.
The Scorpions had quickly lost 6/28, before Scott Browne (17no) and Luke Smith combined for a 28-run final wicket partnership to add respectability to the scoreboard.
Zanchetta finished with 4/15 off eight overs, while Giles snagged 3/15 off 7.4 overs.
