THE Bass Coast Landcare Network is hosting an exciting field day on February 25.
If you’re interested in growing hops in South Gippsland and learning about the local boutique brewing industry, then this is the day for you.
Come along and learn about hop growing and harvesting, best varieties for South Gippsland, market potential, local demand and the brewing process.
Funded through the Demonstrating Sustainable Farm Practices project the field day will visit the Loch Brewery and Distillery for a tour of the brewery and a beer tasting.
The tour will also visit the Hops trial site in Bass.
Guest speakers include:
• Robbie Gray – Hops trial project manager, Bass Coast Landcare Network.
• Chris Alenson – Agricultural consultant and educator on soil health with over 35 years’ experience.
• Craig Johnson – Owner Loch Brewery and Distillery.
• David Ziebell – Long term South Gippsland resident with 20 years’ experience in the growing and harvesting of Hops.
